The Starrett Steel Straight Edge, Series 380, is precision ground and nicely finished to Starrett's rigid standards.
It is unsurpassed for drawing or tracing straight lines and checking the straightness of surfaces.
Its thickness and design allow it to retain its shape and precision, but still be portable and easy to handle.
The 380 Series is not beveled or graduated. The 385 Series has a beveled edge, but not a graduated one. The Series 387 has a beveled edge and is graduated at 32 inches.
The 380 and 385 series in sizes 36" and larger are marked with arrows at two suspension points.
If straight edges are brought to work and used on the edge, they should be suspended at these two points to minimize deflection.
Most jobs involve using straight edges in the flat position, and it is in this position that we check most rigorously. 36" (900mm).
